Review of Rape Complaints
Harriet Harman, Minister for Women and Equality, Home secretary Alan Johnson and Solicitor General Vera Baird today announced a review into how rape complaints are handled from when a rape is first disclosed until the court reaches a verdict.
The review, led by Baroness Stern, will look in particular at how public authorities (including the police, local authorites, health providers, the Crown Prosecution Service, etc) not only respond individually to rape complaints, but how they interact with each other, as well as professionals' attitudes to rape and evidence from the victims.

Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton visits the DRC
V-Day Congo Director Christine Schuler Deschryver met with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on August the 11th in Goma, DRC. Her trip brought sharp focus and worldwide attention to the ongoing sexual atrocities against women in the DRC. Read about the outcomes of the meeting here.
STOP RAPING OUR GREATEST RESOURCE

2009's V-Day Spotlight Campaign focuses on the hundreds of thousands of women and girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo who have been raped since the conflict began. An estimated 40 women are raped every day in South Kivu in eastern DRC. The atrocities being perpetrated against women and girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo are nothing less than a femicide. Together we can demand that women and girls in the DRC are safe and empowered as community leaders.
Donate now to stop rape in the DRC!
ADD YOUR VOICE NOW!
V-Day has launched the 'V-WALL FOR CONGO' where you can post messages of solidarity to the women of Congo. As the violence in the Eastern DRC continues, your support & your voice are critical. Invite your friends to join you and V-Day in solidarity with the women and girls of the Congo.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon visited the Panzi Hospital in Bukavu, DRC and made an impassioned plea for uncompromising action to put a stop to the plague of sexual violence in Eastern Congo. By adding your voice to the V-Wall you can urge our world leaders to help, AND TO HELP NOW.
