V-Day spotlight 2006: Justice to ‘Comfort Women’

Comfort women were Asian civilians that had been forced into sexual slavery during WWII. These were sexual slaves that were recruited specifically for the use of Japanese military- men.

Although the war ended over 60 years ago, these women have only recently gotten recognition, when 3 former Korean comfort women filed a class-action suit against the Japanese government.

Since then, movements have been formed that have fought for justice for comfort women, and V-Day joined this fight in 2006. The “Global V-Day Campaign for Justice to ‘Comfort Women’” was launched, and became the spotlight for V-Day 2006.
